AI Consultant in Hertfordshire

We work with Hertfordshire small businesses from just over the county line in Amersham — near enough that Watford, Rickmansworth and Berkhamsted are a short drive rather than an expedition. Chatbots, admin automation and custom AI tools for the trades, shops, clinics and small practices that keep the county running.

Who can help my Hertfordshire business with AI?

We can — How Do AI is an independent AI consultancy for UK small businesses, run from Amersham in Buckinghamshire. Thirty-five years in IT, now spent helping people who do not have a tech team and should not need one. There are three ways to work together, and they are the same wherever you are in Hertfordshire: a Botz chatbot on your website, a monthly Admin plan covering social, reviews and finding new customers, or fixed-price consulting hours — £150 for four, £250 for eight, £400 for sixteen. Chatbots and monthly plans are quoted for your business after a free call, because what they cost depends on what you need them to do.

What is business in Hertfordshire actually like?

Two things shape small business in Hertfordshire. The first is London: close enough that the market towns filled up with well-paid commuters, which is why St Albans and Berkhamsted support the kind of independent shops and private practices that would not survive elsewhere. The second is the employer clusters — the studios at Leavesden, the university at Hatfield, the business parks along the M1 and M25 — each of which grows a ring of smaller businesses feeding it. The upshot is that a café in Watford and a dental practice in St Albans have almost nothing in common commercially, and should not be sold the same AI setup.

Where does AI pay back fastest in Hertfordshire?

The high-street and hospitality businesses around Watford and Hatfield live on volume and visibility, so reviews and social are where the money is — the difference between 4.2 and 4.6 stars shows up in the till. The private clinics, dentists, accountants and family solicitors of St Albans and Berkhamsted are the opposite: a handful of high-value clients each, where the wins come from never losing a recall, a follow-up or a returned call. Along the M1 at Hemel, trades and contractors win on speed — the quote that arrives first usually gets the job. And in the smaller places like Tring and Rickmansworth, the honest pitch is that automation buys a one-person business a second pair of hands without a second wage.

Hertfordshire towns we serve

We work across the whole county. These are the towns with a page of their own — what trade there is actually like, the honest drive time from Amersham, and where AI tends to pay back first. If yours is not here, it changes nothing about what we can do; it just means we have not written it up yet.

How does working together actually work across Hertfordshire?

Remotely wherever you are, and in person when it helps. Hertfordshire sits right on our doorstep — Watford and Rickmansworth are about twenty-five minutes from Amersham, Berkhamsted and Hemel a little over twenty, and St Albans and Hatfield not much further. There is no Hertfordshire office; we are in Amersham and drive over, and most of the county is close enough that we can just pop across when you want to talk something through face to face.

And Hertfordshire is where we can most easily meet in person — it is not the edge of where we work. The remote setup is identical wherever you are, and plenty of our clients are nowhere near the home counties. If you are further out and the services fit, that is not a problem to work around; it just means we meet over Zoom.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover the whole of Hertfordshire?

Yes — all of it. Chatbot builds, monthly plans and consulting sessions run over Zoom and shared documents, so where you are in Hertfordshire makes no practical difference. Meeting in person is the only part distance affects: some of the county is close enough that we can simply pop over, and for the further towns we agree a date instead. There are no Hertfordshire branches, just the one office in Amersham — and no cap on how far we will work, either. Plenty of our clients are nowhere near here.

How much does AI cost for a Hertfordshire small business?

Consulting is the part with a published price: £150 for four hours, £250 for eight, £400 for sixteen, fixed, with no hourly billing. Chatbots and monthly plans are quoted after a free call rather than listed, because what they cost depends on how much you want them to do. Where a Hertfordshire business should start depends on the trade and on which part of the county you are in — that is what the free first call is for.

Can I see examples of your work with other Hertfordshire businesses?

On the call, yes. We do not publish client names or case studies on the website unless the client has given us written permission, and most small businesses would rather their competitors did not know. What we can do is talk you through comparable work in Hertfordshire and, where a client is happy to, put you in touch with them directly so you can ask them instead of us.

My business sits right on the edge of Hertfordshire — does that matter?

Not in the slightest. Remote work does not care about county boundaries, and Amersham sits close enough to the borders that Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire are all a sensible drive away. Pick whichever town page matches where you actually are, or use the county page if none of them quite fits. And if you are nowhere near any of them — a different county entirely, the other end of the country — that is genuinely fine. The list is where we can easily meet face to face, not a list of who we will work with.
